summary / informacje o książce:

Milach’s first photobook is a work of subjective photojournalism presenting the Silesian agglomeration as seen in its public spaces, the courtyards of old apartment houses and outdoor areas around other multiple family dwellings, and its wastelands. There is aparticular focus on the photographer’s hometown, Gliwice. The album is a grainy, black-and-white documentary.

Pierwsza książka fotograficzna Rafała Milacha. Subiektywny fotoreportaż przedstawiający przestrzeń publiczną, podwórka i nieużytki aglomeracji śląskiej ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem rodzinnego miasta fotografa – Gliwic. Czarno-biały, ziarnisty dokument.

Rafał Milach, photographer, visual artist and author of books, was born in 1978 in the southern city of Gliwice. He is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice and the Institute of Creative Photography (ICP) at the Silesian University in Opava (Czech Republic) and now teaches at the ICP and the University of Silesia’s Krzysztof Kieslowski Film School in the southern Polish city of Katowice. Milach co-founded the Sputnik Photos international collective of East-Central European photographers and he is a member of the Magnum Photos agency. He is married to Ania Nałecka-Milach, with whom he collaborates on book projects.

Rafał Milach (ur. 1978, Gliwice) – fotograf, artysta wizualny, autor książek. Absolwent Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Katowicach oraz Instytutu Twórczej Fotografii na Uniwersytecie Śląskim w Opawie. Wykłada w ITF w Opawie oraz na WRTiV im. Krzysztofa Kieślowskiego w Katowicach. Współzałożyciel kolektywu Sputnik Photos. Członek Agencji Magnum. Prywatnie związany z Anią Nałęcką-Milach, z którą realizuje wspólne projekty książkowe.
