| The album contains panoramic photographs taken in gay clubs in several Polish cities. They present faintly lit, deserted interiors. The dark rooms of the title are separated off from the rest of the clubs for the purpose of sex. However, ‘darkroom’ is also a photographic term describing the place where photographic film is processed and photos are developed. Pustoła addresses a twenty-first century taboo in the form of these popular ‘fuck rooms’ and, at the same time, lays bare the ambiguous charm of ‘unseen’ architecture. |

Album zawiera panoramiczne fotografie wykonane w klubach gejowskich kilku polskich miast. Zdjęcia przedstawiają słabo oświetlone, opustoszałe wnętrza. Tytułowy dark room, to wydzielone miejsce w klubie, przeznaczone do uprawiania seksu, ale zwrot ten oznacza również fotograficzną ciemnię. Pustoła podejmuje temat tabu jakim są popularne w XXI-wieku tzw. “fuck rooms”, odkrywając zarazem dwuznaczny urok “niewidzialnej” architektury. |

| Konrad Pustola was born in Warsaw in 1976 and he died there in 2015. He graduated in economics from the University of Warsaw in 2013 and went on to study at the Photography Department of the Royal College of Art in London, where he graduated in 2008. He created photographic series which explored the visual aspects of social relationships, worked on artistic and documentary projects and specialised in photographing architecture. |

Konrad Pustoła (ur. 1976, Warszawa – zm. 2015, Warszawa) – absolwent ekonomii na Uniwersytecie Warszawskim (2003) oraz studiów artystycznych w londyńskim Royal College of Art (2008). Tworzył cykle fotograficzne, które eksplorowały wizualne aspekty relacji społecznych. Realizował projekty artystyczne, jak i dokumentalne. Specjalizował się w fotografii architektury. |
