| “Selfie” presents a series of works with the same title. Grzeszykowska uses pigskin to recreate parts of her body, her fingers, breasts, head, eyes and mouth, in sculpted form. She then photographs the phantom objects against backgrounds of leathers in various colours. The shots fit in with her interest in both the practice of self-portraiture and self-creation which is rooted in the history of art and in existential matters. |

Artystka, wykorzystując świńską skórę, opracowuje w rzeźbiarski sposób fragmenty swojego ciała – palce, piersi, głowę, oczy, usta – i fotografuje te fantomowe obiekty na tłach z różnokolorowych skór. Fotografie wpisują się w zainteresowanie Grzeszykowskiej zarówno ugruntowaną na gruncie historii sztuki praktyką autoportretu i autokreacji, jak i kwestiami egzystencjalnymi. |

| Aneta Grzeszykowska was born in Warsaw in 1974 and graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts there. She began collaborating with her partner, Jan Smaga, in 1999. As of 2005, she primarily exhibits her own, individual projects. She works with photography and film and creates sculptural forms, engaging with questions of identity, image and depicting of the body. She also turns to the work of other women artists, alluding to the tradition of feminist art in a manner sometimes more and sometimes less direct. |

Aneta Grzeszykowska (ur. 1974, Warszawa) – absolwentka warszawskiej Akademii Sztuk Pięknych. Od 1999 pracowała w duecie ze swoim partnerem Janem Smagą. Od 2005 roku wystawia przede wszystkim indywidualne projekty. Wykorzystuje fotografię, film, tworzy formy rzeźbiarskie. Zajmuje się kwestiami tożsamości, wizerunku, obrazowania ciała. Korzysta również z dorobku innych artystek, odnosząc się w mniej lub bardziej bezpośredni sposób do tradycji sztuki feministycznej. |
