summary / informacje o książce:

The publication in book form of a series of photographs with the same title, which were shown during the first half of nineteen seventies at various institutions, including the Museum of Art in the central Polish city of Łódź, and caused something of a stir. The album is devoted to Roman Catholic and Orthodox religious rituals and festivals in Poland. Bujak used the convention of humanist photo journalism to tell a story of experiencing the eponymous Misteria (Mysteries).   Książkowa publikacja głośnego cyklu fotografii pod tym samym tytułem, prezentowanego w I. połowie lat 1970. m.in. w Muzeum Sztuki w Łodzi. Album poświęcony rytuałom religijnym i świętom kościelnym w Polsce – katolickim i prawosławnym. Bujak wykorzystuje konwencję humanistycznego fotoreportażu, by opowiedzieć o doświadczeniu tytułowych misteriów.

The first book of photos from Bujak’s “Misteria” (Mysteries) series was brought out by a monastery publishing house, alvarianum, in 1974. An American edition was published in 1976. It was entitled “Journeys to Glory: A Celebration of the Human Spirit” and featured a text by Majorie B. Young.   Pierwsze książkowe wydanie fotografii z cyklu “Misteria” ukazało się nakładem klasztornego wydawnictwa alvarianum w 1974 roku, zaś w 1976 roku ukazło się wydanie amrykańskie pod tytułem “Journeys to Glory” z tekstem Marjorie B. Young.

Adam Bujak (b. 1942) is a Krakow photographer and a member of the Związek Polskich Artystów Fotografików (Union of Polish Art Photographers). He specialises in Polish travel and religious themes and documented Karol Wojtyła in his service as cardinal and then Pope John Paul II. Bujak is the author of more than one hundred albums and photographic books, Most of which were brought out post-1990 by Biały Kruk, a Roman Catholic, patriotic publishing house.   Adam Bujak (ur. 1942) – krakowski fotograf, członek ZPAF, specjalizujący się w tematyce krajoznawczej i religijnej, dokumentował posługę kardynała i papieża Karola Wojtyły. Autor ponad 100 albumów i książek fotograficznych, z których większość wydana została po 1990 roku w katolicko-patriotycznym wydawnictwie Biały Kruk.
