And in between. Referring to the duo show’s title, the two works by Andrea Barzaghi and Tobi Keck are placed just over our heads and under our feet. Therefore the supposedly conventional display area of the exhibition space – the middle section – is being avoided. The room’s ceiling is crowded by a chaotic group of anthropomorphic figures. Their fringy shapes look like shadows, phantoms or ghosts. They have no recognizable faces. Their bodies are monochrome dirty dark green, yellow or grey. The only light is shining upon them from the ground. In the center of the room lies a loose circle of several different stucco-roses. Some of them carry ready-made plastic vases equipped with light bulbs. Electric wires are leading to the walls. The bottom is also framed by floral stucco-ornaments and textured by modest line-structured wallpaper. The room situation begins to fall upside-down. Entering the place happens to be stuck between the two sceneries. While the one above is glancing down on us, we are at the same time in close touch with the other one underneath. The vacant middle section is becoming the very area of us the visitors in the flesh.
