Have you ever had the feeling that you want to escape from demands of society or yourself?
Do you have your own strategies how to escape from work, relationship, or any other life situation?
Do you want to be better in the state of escape?
And is there any difference between your escapism and artists’ escapism?

Artistic practices are often considered as something suspicious and labeled as escapism. We take the escapist strategies of the contemporary art as the positive quality and we want to study and improve them. We want you to learn from the professionals: that’s the reason why Escapism. Training Program includes references to the case studies by artists from former Czechoslovakia and USSR, where the whole traditions of escape from the conditions of the socialist countries were formed. Under the totalitarian regimes there lived the best escapologist professionals, what remained from this tradition?

How does the contemporary artist’s escape look like? Who is actually the real escapist?
How is an escape related to the newly established contexts? Exchange the information about the system and learn how to escape together with them through the series of lectures, actions, workshops and just experience different forms of collectivity. We are caring for your learning experience, so make yourself at home.

One of the main escapist tactics is reading. Besides the escapist apartment at Fabrika, this year  Escapism. Training Program are going to spread its activity to Nekrasov Library where during the time of the exhibition are going to operate Escapism. Reading Club .
