Under the title US OR CHAOS, the unique a/political private collection on the dual theme of order and chaos is on show at the BPS22. Curated by Becky Haghpanah-Shirwan, director of the a/political collection, US OR CHAOS brings together around forty powerful works that are at times monumental, at times minimalist.

Based in London, the a/political private collection has been built up around relations that it has created with international artists who are used to dealing with today’s major political and social problems. In parallel with the acquisition of works, a/political regularly initiates and produces ambitious artistic projects and gets involved in their international dissemination.

Inspired by an anti-riot policeman’s retort to a member of the Spanish artists collective Democracia, the exhibition takes a look at control techniques and resistance strategies, attempts to order the chaos and tendencies to challenge the prevailing order with works by Franko B, Teresa Margolles, Andrei Molodkin, Nancy Spero, etc.

The exhibition is also the opportunity to give another outing to Résilients – a work made by the duo Stéphanie Rollin and David Brognon in collaboration with laid-off workers from the Caterpillar factory in Gosselies.
