Strabag Artaward Open Call

STRABAG SE is a European-based technology group for construction services, a leader in innovation and financial strength. Its services span all areas of the construction industry and cover the entire construction value chain. STRABAG Kunstforum serves an international art sponsorship with the organisation of STRABAG Artaward International, the exhibition activities at STRABAG Artlounge and the establishment and care of STRABAG Artcollection, permanently presented at more than 60 office locations all over Europe. STRABAG Artaward International is an award for the support of art for artists of up to 40 years in the fields of painting and drawing, which terms are freely reinterpreted for the contemporary art landscape. It has been awarded in Austria since 1994 and internationally since 2009.

 

CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION / RECOURSE TO THE LAW

 

Eligible to take part are artists from Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia. Participants must be citizens of one of these five countries or must have been permanently based in one of these countries for at least two years. Participants of STRABAG Artaward International must be born in or after the year 1982. All participants must have a degree in higher artistic studies (art academies, art colleges or universities). All participants accept the findings of the jury. Any recourse to legal action is excluded. Every participant is the copyright holder. The submitted works of art will remain the property of the participant. The participants agree that in connection with STRABAG Artaward International his/ her submitted works of art may be presented, photographed, printed and published online – unlimited and free-of-charge. Submitted works of art must not have been awarded any further public art prize and must be owned by the participant. The participants are responsible for the accuracy of their information. Due to wrong statements, STRABAG Kunstforum may refrain from awarding the prize.

ONLINE APPLICATION: 17 JAN –3 FEB 2022

All participants must apply online at strabag-kunstforum.at from 17 January till 3 February 2022. Eligible in the fields of painting and drawing are three works of art (one or multiple parts), which are essential for the jury’s decision. The three chosen works must be explained with a short statement. Please find details about the application process online.

PRELIMINARY JURY

Based on the submissions online, the jury makes a selection for the final jury session. From 28 March 2022, all artists will be notified in writing. The preselected artists will be presented with their artworks at strabag-kunstforum.at.

 

SUBMISSION OF ORIGINAL WORKS

All nominees must submit the three originals specified in the online application. The original artworks must be submitted at the STRABAG offices in Bratislava/SK, Budapest/HU, Prague/ CZ, Pruszkow/PL and Vienna/AT.

Transport of the artworks to the specific STRABAG building is at the artists‘ own costs and risk. A collective transport from the specific STRABAG offices to Vienna will be organized by STRABAG Kunstforum.

 

FINAL JURY

The final jury will meet on 28 April 2022 at STRABAG Artlounge in Vien – na. All nominees will be notified in writing on 29 April 2022.

 

RETURN OF ORIGINAL WORKS

The returned artworks must be collected at the specific STRABAG offices in Bratislava, Budapest, Prague, Pruszkow and Vienna. The artworks of the five shortlisted artists will remain in Vienna for the group exhibition.

 

AWARD CEREMONY:

9 JUNE 2022 At the award ceremony and the opening of the group exhibition on 9 June 2022 at the Artlounge at  STRABAG Haus, Vienna, the winner and the four recipients of recognition prizes will be announced. A catalogue for the group exhibition will be published.
