‘Chiasmus’ at Pragovka Gallery Rear
Are we a vector or vector intersection? I Is the objective presentation of our (in social networks constantly floating) self walking the street or, on the contrary, are we the evolutionary expansion of the organic substance of this planet, its tentacles, into the sphere of another, digital being? Our body is a kind of funnel between two realities in which the body of the virtual reality penetrates the objective body – the biological organism. The work of artists selected for this exhibition is often associated with this moment when our bodies are constantly stretching, just like the octopus passing through the narrow neck of the bottle, between those two states whose interconnection most of us are no longer able to interrupt. The necessary repeated deformations of what our body means, and as a result, our understanding as individual entities, make us constantly transforming mutants. The objection that all of this is actually happening only in the phenomenological level, our self-perception today, especially compared to how our “virtual” worlds are real, does not stand any more. Same as the virtual currency online MMORPG of computer words is so easily convertible to the “real world” currency, also the essence of our being is the variable. Playing with aesthetics of material installations and computer graphics, 3D models, or the spectacular illusion of postproduction of moving images is nowadays taken, also in the art, as a complex boxes, sometimes even in the work of one author.
