| The album, which is dedicated to the soldiers of the Red Army who fell during the offensives of 1944 and 1945, is a topographic journey around the country, with a route marked out by the monuments raised by the communist authorities and the military cemeteries established by them. It is both a photographic atlas of social realistic and social modernist sculptures and monuments and a record of the politics of memory imposed via the regime’s propaganda at the time. The photos are the work of leading Polish photographers in the field of national travel and tourism. |
